Detroit vs Wisconsin-Green Bay 12/29/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Green Bay Phoenix and the Detroit Mercy Titans meet Thursday in college basketball action from Calihan Hall. Green Bay is 2-11 on the season. The Phoenix lost to Oregon State in their last matchup. As for Detroit, they’re sitting at 5-8 after a loss to Cincinnati last Wednesday. Green Bay has wins over only IUPUI and UMKC this year. The losses have come versus Indiana State, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Queens NC, Utah Valley, UIC, Milwaukee, Loyola IL, St. Thomas MN, Stanford and Oregon State. 

Matched up against Oregon State back on December 18, the Phoenix were outscored 30-23 in the first half. Green Bay couldn’t ultimately get any closer and lost 65-56. Clarence Cummings was the top team scorer on 16 points and seven rebounds. 

Over on the Detroit side, their wins have come versus Rochester, Ohio, Charlotte, Fort Wayne and Tulsa this year. The Titans have lost to Boston College, FAU, Bryant, Washington State, Cleveland State, Charlotte, Eastern Michigan and Cincinnati. 

In the Cincinnati game last Wednesday, the Titans went into halftime down 37-28. Detroit was outscored 35-26 in the second half and lost it 72-54. Gerald Liddell doubled up on 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Antoine Davis added 17 points. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Detroit. Also probably not going near this one, though; there’s not a lot to get excited about here. In any case, Detroit is sitting on a three-game losing streak but they’ve scored well lately. The Titans have 75 or more points in five of their last six games and should post a decent total in this one as well. As for Green Bay, they haven’t been able to pass 61 points during this three-game losing streak and haven’t given too many reasons for optimism lately. I don’t see the Phoenix getting close here.
