The Missouri State Bears and the Drake Bulldogs meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Knapp Center. Missouri State is 17-8 on the year so far and coming off a loss to Loyola. As for Drake, they’re currently 17-7 this season. The Bulldogs fell to Northern Iowa in OT during their last outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Missouri State started off the year at 4-4, but they haven’t lost consecutive games since then. The Bears are 6-2 in their last eight outings. The only losses during that stretch have come versus Indiana State and Loyola Chicago.
Matched up against Loyola on Sunday, the Bears had a slim one-point lead by the break. Missouri State was outscored 33-43 from there in a 71-62 defeat. Gaige Prim led the team on a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards.
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they started similarly at 3-3 this season. Drake has hit a 7-2 run in their last nine (a stretch featuring three overtime finishes). The Bulldogs’ defeats in that time have come versus only Bradley and Northern Iowa.
On Saturday versus Northern Iowa, Drake went punch-for-punch with the Panthers the whole game and needed overtime to decide things. The Bulldogs would end up with a 74-69 loss at game’s end, however. Tucker Devries led the way on 15 points with eight rebounds.
Drake is 3-10 ATS in the last 13 at home and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 overall. The over is 4-1 in Drake’s last five at home.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 21-7-2 ATS in their last 30 road games and 12-4 ATS in the last 16 Wednesday games. The over is 7-3 in Missouri State’s last 10 overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Drake. Both these teams have been playing pretty well lately though, so this one looks like a fight. The Bulldogs have hit 71 or more points in five of their last six games, and Missouri State has scored 69 or more in nine of the last 10 outings.
The last time these teams met up on January 2, Missouri State pulled off a 61-56 win at home. I like this one to be a higher-scoring affair, with Drake securing a revenge cover. Should be a competitive matchup regardless.
