Delaware managed to go 9-3 over their first 12 games, losing to only Davidson, Oakland and Temple. After a pair of consecutive losses to Iona and UNC Wilmington, the Hens got another victory over Charleston on December 31.
In the New Year’s Eve game versus Charleston, Delaware had a 34-32 lead at the break and held on for the 67-66 victory. Leading scorer Jameer Nelson notched 22 points, and both Kevin Anderson and Ryan Allen posted 14 points apiece.
Over on the Drexel side, they hit a 4-3 run over their first seven outings with wins over Neumann, Saint Joseph’s, Charlotte and Fairleigh Dickinson. After losses to Princeton and Abilene Christian the Dragons beat Coppin State and Towson.
Matched up against Towson on January 3, the Dragons outscored the Tigers 36-32 in the second half during an eventual 65-61 win. Mate Okros was the top team scorer on 15 points and five rebounds.
The Dragons are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 at home. The under is 10-4 in Drexel’s last 14 at home.
Meanwhile, the Hens are 1-4 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games. Delaware is 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Delaware here, but staying away. The Hens have been putting up some pretty solid points totals lately; they’ve hit 67 or more in each of their last six games, going 4-2 in that time. As for Drexel, they’ve been at 65 or below in two of their last three but can certainly score in a comparable matchup this year. Should be a competitive game, and I think the Hens can pull off the cover.
