Drexel vs Northeastern Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/23/23

The Northeastern Huskies and the Drexel Dragons meet Thursday in college basketball action from Daskalakis Athletic Center. Northeastern is 10-17 overall this year. The Huskies beat William & Mary in their last game. As for Drexel, they’re currently 15-14 after a loss to Hampton on Saturday. Northeastern Huskies

Northeastern had a rough start to the year, going just 8-12 overall through 20 games. The Huskies are only 2-5 since then with losses to Delaware, Elon, Hofstra, UNC Wilmington and Charleston before wins versus Monmouth and William & Mary. 

In the William & Mary matchup on Saturday, the Huskies jumped out to a 45-25 edge by the break. Northeastern was outscored 32-24 in the second in a 69-57 victory. Tops in scoring was Jahmyl Telfort with 28 points and four assists. 

Drexel Dragons 

Over on the Drexel side, they they stood at 12-9 over their first 21 games of the season. The Dragons have managed a sketchy 3-5 run since then with losses to Elon, Monmouth, Hofstra, UNC Wilmington and Hampton. 

Matched up against Hampton on Saturday, the Dragons were down 37-31 in the locker room. Drexel posted a 41-38 run from there but couldn’t come back in a 75-72 loss. Yame Butler put up 30 points with six rebounds in the defeat. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I might take a stab on Drexel here. I’ll probably skip it, though. There’s not a lot to get excited about with this matchup—it should still be competitive, though. Drexel has lost three straight games but they’re still scoring pretty well in comparable matchups. The Dragons have hit 70 or more points in three of their last four outings. These teams last saw each other on January 14 in a 76-55 Drexel victory at Matthews Arena. The Dragons got off to a great 44-28 start in that one, and if they can get it going early here in the rematch I think they’ll be fine.
