UNC Wilmington Seahawks
UNC Wilmington started out the season on a pretty strong 15-5 run across the first 20 games. The Seahawks are 5-2 since then with wins over Stony Brook, Monmouth, NC A&T, William & Mary and Northeastern during that stretch.
In the Saturday game versus Northeastern, the Seahawks were up 33-20 by the break. UNC Wilmington posted another 38 points in the second half during a 71-59 victory. Tan White was the leading team scorer on 23 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Drexel side, they were 11-8 at the 19-game mark this year. The Dragons are 4-4 since then with wins over Delaware, Charleston, Delaware again and Towson. The losses came to NC A&T, Elon, Monmouth and Hofstra.
In the Hofstra matchup back on Monday, the Dragons took a 30-22 deficit into the break. Drexel didn’t end up getting any closer in a 66-52 defeat. The only double-digit scorer on the team was Amari Williams with 13 points and five rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stay with UNC Wilmington in this matchup. The Seahawks are a nice 5-1 over their last six games and they’ve scored 70 or more points in three of their last four outings. The 1-3 stretch back in January seems a distant memory now. As for Drexel, they’ve been at 67 points or below in five of the last seven games so they’ll have to step on the offensive gas in order to keep pace here. If the Seahawks play to their capabilities, I don’t think Drexel will get the win in this one.
