The Clemson Tigers and the Duke Blue Devils meet Saturday in college basketball action from Cameron Indoor Stadium. Clemson is sitting at 13-5 this year following a win over Florida State. As for Duke, they’re coming off a win versus Louisville that improved the Blue Devils to 14-4 so far. Let’s get into our Clemson vs. Duke prediction. Clemson Tigers
The Tigers only lost one of their first 12 games this year, 79-77 versus Memphis. Clemson is a shaky 2-4 since then though, with wins over Boston College and Florida State. Otherwise the Tigers fell to Miami, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech in that span.
In the Florida State matchup back on Saturday, Clemson kept the pace with a 30-30 run in the first half. The Tigers outscored the Seminoles 48-37 from there and surged to the win 78-67. Leading the scoring was Chase Hunter with 14 points, two assists and 8-of-8 from the line.
Duke Blue Devils
Over on the Duke side, they lost to Arizona, Arkansas and Georgia Tech in their first eight games. The Blue Devils would beat Charlotte, Hofstra, Baylor, Queens, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech in the next eight before falling to Pittsburgh and beating Louisville.
Matched up against Louisville on Tuesday, the Blue Devils went into the locker room with a 45-34 edge. Duke hit a 38-35 run the rest of the way and won 83-69. Mark Mitchell was the leading scorer on 20 points and 12 boards. Kyle Filipowski added 17 points and 15 rebounds as well.
ANDREW’S FREE CLEMSON VS DUKE PREDICITON
I’ll stick with Duke, but you could probably call this one either way. The Blue Devils hit 46 percent of their shots in the win over Louisville, posting a 43-28 rebounding edge (15-7 offensive) along the way. Duke has posted 75 or more points in four straight games (a 3-1 run), and in nine of the last 10 overall (a 9-1 run).
As for Clemson, they’ve hit 72 or more points in four straight games themselves but have gone just 2-2 in that time. This is going to be another tricky game for the Tigers, and I don’t think they’ll hang around on a cover pace if the Blue Devils are playing well.
