The Yellow Jackets hit a 4-3 run to start the year, losing to UMass Lowell, Cincinnati and Georgia along the way. Georgia Tech beat Alabama A&M, Penn State, UMass and Hawaii in the next four games before losses to Nevada, Florida State, Boston College and Notre Dame from there.
On Tuesday versus Notre Dame, the Yellow Jackets were within two points at the break. Georgia Tech fought back to force overtime but got outscored 9-2 in the extra period for a 75-68 defeat. Miles Kelly put up 25 points with seven rebounds and three assists in the losing effort.
Duke Blue Devils
Over on the Blue Devils’ side, they managed a 5-3 record through their first eight games featuring losses to Arizona, Arkansas and Georgia Tech. Duke has since hit a winning streak over Charlotte, Hofstra, Baylor, Queens, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh in the last seven outings.
In the Pitt matchup back on Tuesday, the Blue Devils jumped out to a dominant 48-23 edge by halftime. Duke was outscored 30-27 in the second half but held on for the win 75-53. Topping the scorers was Kyle Filipowski with 26 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

I’ll stick with Duke. The Blue Devils are on a roll right now and dominated a pretty good Pitt team in their last game. Duke shot 51.8 percent from the field in that one with 42 rebounds and 19 team assists. The Blue Devils have hit 75 or more points in six of their last seven outings.
The last time these teams met up was back on December 2 in a 72-68 Georgia Tech win at McCamish. Duke gave up 50.9 percent shooting in that one while the Yellow Jackets posted 11-of-13 from the line with 19 team assists. I like the Blue Devils to get some revenge at home here and post a strong effort in a cover. It’ll be a fun one to watch regardless.
