The Bowling Green Falcons and the Duquesne Dukes meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Palumbo Center. Bowling Green is 2-1 in their last three games and fresh off a win over Chicago State. As for Duquesne, they’re 3-4 this year. The Dukes beat American in their last appearance. Bowling Green went just 1-3 over their first four games, falling to Western Carolina, Ohio State and Norfolk State. Since then the Falcons have a loss to Southern Utah in between wins over Milwaukee and Chicago State.
In the Chicago State game, Bowling Green jumped out to a big 28-15 lead at the break and held on for the 75-57 win. Joe Reece managed 18 points, and Daeqwon Plowden doubled up on 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Over on the Duquesne side, they beat Rider in their opener but lost to Hofstra, Weber State, Northeastern and Colorado in the next quartet. Since then the Dukes have notched wins over Bradley and American.
In the win over American, Duquesne had a 50-42 second-half advantage on the way to an 88-79 victory. Leon Ayers was the top Dukes contributor with 23 points, six rebounds and one assist to his credit.
The Dukes are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and the over is 4-0 in the last four overall. The over is 6-0 in Duquesne’s last six Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Falcons are 1-6 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 17-36-2 ATS in their last 55 overall. The over is 4-1 in Bowling Green’s last five overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Bowling Green. The Falcons are coming off of a sketchy outing in their last game, though. Bowling Green shot 37.9 percent against Chicago State and was out-rebounded 38-45. The key stat was a 16-25 turnover advantage that helped the Falcons get the win.
As for Duquesne, I like them to stay in this one for most of the game, but they’ve got to keep up the hot shooting from the American matchup (58 percent). Should be an interesting one, but I like Bowling Green a little better.
