Duquesne vs DePaul 12/14/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The DePaul Blue Demons and the Duquesne Dukes meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Palumbo Center. DePaul is 6-4 overall this year. The Demons beat UTEP in their last game. As for Duquesne, they’re 7-3 so far and coming off a loss to New Mexico State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

DePaul won their first three games this year, then hit a losing streak to Santa Clara, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. The Blue Demons have gone 3-1 since then with wins over Samford, Loyola IL and UTEP. 

In the UTEP matchup, the Blue Demons were up 39-33 going into the second half. DePaul went off for 52 more points from there and took a big win 91-70. Javan Johnson put up 23 points, and Umoja Gibson added 22 points. 

Over on the Duquesne side, they were 7-1 over their first eight games with a 77-52 loss to Kentucky on November 11 being their only blemish. Since then the Dukes have lost two more versus Marshall and New Mexico State. 

On Sunday versus New Mexico State, the Dukes were down 35-27 by halftime. Duquesne trailed 38-33 in the second on the way to a 73-60 loss. Jimmy Clark led the team on 16 points, and both Joe Reece and Dae Dae Grant added 12 points apiece. 

PICK: I’ll probably take a stab on DePaul here. Probably not touching it, though; it should be a competitive matchup. That said, the Demons are coming off a nice outing versus UTEP, shooting 49.2 percent from the field, 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from 3-point range and 17-of-19 (89.5 percent) from the line. DePaul has done a nice job scoring this year, and they’ve hit 78 or more points in three of their last four. As for Duquesne, they’ve been giving up quite bit of offense this year—and 73 or more points in three straight games. I like DePaul to have a good scoring outing and make a cover in this one. Should be a great one to watch.
