Duquesne vs Saint Joseph’s Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/15/23

The St. Joseph’s Hawks and the Duquesne Dukes meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Palumbo Center. St. Joseph’s comes into this one at 13-12 overall. The Hawks beat George Washington in their last game. As for Duquesne, they’re 17-8 on the year after eking out a win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday. St. Joseph’s Hawks

St. Joseph’s kicked off the year on an 8-10 run. The Hawks have gone 5-2 in their last seven games, however. The wins in that time have come over UMass, George Mason, Rhode Island, Loyola and George Washington. 

In the George Washington game on Saturday, the Hawks jumped out to a 47-27 edge by the break. St. Joseph’s was outscored 42-34 from there in an 81-69 victory. Leading the way was Erik Reynolds with 24 points and five rebounds. 

Duquesne Dukes

Over on the Duquesne side, they hit a 13-5 stretch over their first 18 games this year. The Dukes are 4-3 since then with wins over Loyola IL, George Washington, George Mason and St. Bonaventure alongside losses to Fordham, St. Bonaventure and UMass. 

Matched up against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, the Dukes were down 31-27 going into the break. Duquesne outscored the Bonnies 29-23 in the second half and won 56-54. Jimmy Clark and Dae Dae Grant each scored a team-high 12 points in the victory. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll take a crack on St. Joseph’s in this one. The Hawks didn’t start out the year so well, but they’ve been playing pretty good basketball over this 7-2 stretch. Saint Joseph’s has 71 or more points in seven of those nine games as well. These teams last saw each other back on January 11 in a 92-80 Dukes win at Hagan Arena. If the Hawks can put together a good effort on the road here, I think they’ll be in line for a cover and a bit of revenge against Duquesne. Should be a fun matchup regardless.
