The Saint Louis Billikens and the Duquesne Dukes meet in college basketball action from the UPMC Events Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Saint Louis Billikens will look to build on back-to-back wins after an 80-67 win over George Washington in their last game. Gibson Jimerson leads the Billikens in scoring with 18.4 PPG while Yuri Collins has 10.2 PPG with a team-high 8.3 APG this season. Jordan Nesbitt has 9.6 PPG with 4.7 RPG while Marten Linssen has 9 PPG with 4.2 RPG this season. As a team, Saint Louis is averaging 79.5 PPG on 46.1% shooting from the field, 36.4% from three and 76.9% from the foul line while allowing 67.5 PPG on 41.1% shooting from the field and 31.1% from three this season.
The Duquesne Dukes will try to snap a four-game losing streak after a 72-61 road loss to St. Joseph’s last time out. Amir Spears leads the Dukes in scoring and assists with 12.6 PPG and 2.6 APG while Leon Ayers III has 12.2 PPG with 4.9 RPG. Kevin Easley has 11.8 PPg with a team-high 6.8 RPG to lead Duquesne on the glass while Tre Williams has 10.8 PPG with 6.6 RPG as well on the year. As a team, Duquesne is averaging 68.1 PPG on 41.5% shooting from the field, 33.7% from three and 70.5% from the foul line while allowing 71.1 PPG on 46% shooting from the field and 37.5% from three this season.
Saint Louis is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a home favorite while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. Duquesne is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss.
I get why the points with the Dukes could be worth a look as a home dog, but realistically, the points only hold value if you’re competing and the Dukes have been getting their butts kicked on offense for a few games now. The Billikens aren’t world beaters, but they’re the better team here and while they’ve had some issues covering on the road, Duquesne’s issues at home are worse. Give me the Billikens laying the points here.
