The Hampton Pirates and the East Carolina Pirates meet in college basketball action from Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Hampton Pirates will look to build on an 89-60 win over subdivision Regent University. Marquis Godwin led Hampton with 21 points on 6 of 14 shooting with 4 threes while Raymond Bethea Jr. added 15 points with 7 rebounds and 3 assists as the only other double-digit scorer for Hampton in the winning effort. Russell Dean also chipped in a team-high 10 rebounds while Jordan Nesbitt dished out a team-high 7 assists in addition to 6 rebounds of his own in the win.

The East Carolina Pirates will be out to build on their 77-47 win over Presbyterian to improve to 2-0 on the year. RJ Felton led ECU with 23 points on 8 of 17 shooting with 4 threes and 5 rebounds while Kalib LaCount and Javon Small each had 16 poitns to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for East Carolina in the win with Small shooting 4 of 8 with 3 threes, 5 rebounds and a team-high 7 assists while LaCount shot 5 of 8 with a pair of triples. Benjamin Bayela also added a team-high 7 rebounds as well in the win for the Pirates.

Hampton is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games overall. East Carolina is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 12-5 in their last 17 games following an ATS win.

Hampton got a win which is nice for them as it’ll build some confidence going forward, but that’s about where it ends as East Carolina is just the far better team here. Hampton gave up 106 to JMU in their lone D-I game this season and while I’m not sure East Carolina hangs 100 on Hampton, I think they can easily win this one by double digits just like they did against Presbyterian. Give me East Carolina laying the points.
