The Samford Bulldogs will travel to the Freedom Hall Civic Center to take on the East Tennessee State Buccaneers this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Samford Bulldogs improved to 15-9 on the season after defeating the Wofford Terriers, 65-60 (OT), this past Wednesday. Samford was able to fight back from an 49-40 deficit with 6:51 left in regulation to force OT and pulled away in the extra period after a Wesley Cardet dunk gave the Bulldogs a 62-57 lead with 1:12 left in regulation. Samford shot 38.3% from the field & 16.7% from beyond the arc while allowing Wofford to shoot 30.9% from the field & 22.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Jermaine Marshall who had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, & 2 blocks.

On the season, Samford is averaging 75.3 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 32.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Samford has been led by Ques Glover (18.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Jermaine Marshall (12.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.1 spg), Logan Dye (11.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg), & Jaden Campbell (10.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.6 spg).

Defensively, Samford is allowing their opponents to average 74.5 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 1.5 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The East Tennessee State Buccaneers snapped a 5-game losing streak and improved to 13-13 on the season after defeating the Furman Paladins, 75-71, this past Monday. East Tennessee State allowed Furman to fight back after going into halftime with a 43-30 lead, however, the Buccaneers defense was great down the stretch and East Tennessee State was able to take the lead for good after a Ty Brewer FT gave the Buccaneers a 69-68 lead with 3:01 left in regulation. East Tennessee State shot 50.0% from the field & 52.6% from beyond the arc while allowing Furman to shoot 51.9% from the field & 36.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Buccaneers was Ledarrius Brewer who had a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, East Tennessee State is averaging 72.1 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Buccaneers are averaging 9.3 three-pointers per game on 36.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, East Tennessee State has been led by Jordan King (14.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg), Ledarrius Brewer (14.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.2 spg), David Sloan (12.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 5.2 apg, 1.7 spg), & Ty Brewer (10.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensviely, East Tennessee State is allowing their opponents to average 72.7 ppg on 44.5% shooting from the field. The Buccaneers have a rebound margin of 0.3 and a turnover margin of -0.3.

The Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games, however, are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games vs. East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games & 2-4 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games.

East Tennessee State was able to pick up an impressive victory over Furman, however, this is a team that has struggled overall this season, especially on the defensive end as they Buccaneers come into this game ranked just 270th in scoring defense & 258th in defensive FG%. Samford lost by an 88-85 margin at home against East Tennessee State, however, as the Bulldogs have been playing well as of late, winning 4 of their last 5 games. Samford is led by their offense that ranks t-80th in scoring offense & t-42nd in three-pointers made per game and as I think they will once again have success against the poor East Tennessee State defense, I think the play here is to take Samford and the points. Good Luck!
