UNC Greensboro Spartans

The Spartans managed a 14-8 run over their first 22 games of the year. Since then UNC Greensboro is a solid 6-2 with wins over Mercer, the Citadel, East Tennessee State, Wofford, Chattanooga and Western Carolina during that time. 

In the Western Carolina game on Wednesday, UNC Greensboro held a 39-35 edge by halftime. The Spartans rolled on a 32-17 second-half run and took the win 71-52. Keyshaun Langley was the top team scorer on 28 points. 

East Tennessee State Buccaneers

Over on the East Tennessee State side, they posted an 8-14 stretch in their first 22 outings. The Buccaneers have hit a 3-5 run since then with losses to Chattanooga, Samford, UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina and Furman. 

On Wednesday against the Citadel, the Buccaneers were up 29-21 going into the second half. East Tennessee State kept the pace on 49 more points and won it 78-70. Jordan King logged 27 points with three rebounds in the victory.

I’m staying with UNC Greensboro. The Spartans are on a nice 6-1 run right now, scoring 69 or more points in each of those seven games. One of those victories came against East Tennessee State back on February 7 at Greensboro Coliseum. The Spartans didn’t have much trouble in that one after a 50-23 first half and won 91-65. That said, East Tennessee State has gone 2-2 since then with 66 or more points in each game. I like the Buccaneers to hang around in this home rematch with UNC Greensboro eventually powering out the cover.
