The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the East Tennessee State meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Freedom Hall Civic Center. Here’s an East Tennessee State vs UNC Greensboro prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best East Tennessee State vs UNC Greensboro pick.
UNC Greensboro Spartans Betting Preview
The Spartans had a pretty middling run to start the season, but they’ve been looking much better since late December. UNC Greensboro kicked things off with a 6-6 record, taking wins over Florida Gulf Coast, NC Wesleyan, Long Beach State, High Point, North Carolina A&T, and William Peace in that time. The losses otherwise were versus SMU, Indiana, San Jose State, UTEP, North Florida, and Elon. UNC Greensboro would hit an 8-3 run in the next 11 with losses to Samford, Mercer, and Wofford. The wins came courtesy of Virginia Lynchburg, Wofford, Furman, Chattanooga, the Citadel, Western Carolina, VMI, and East Tennessee State otherwise. Since then the Spartans have toppled the Citadel, Western Carolina, VMI, and Furman in their last four, giving the team an 18-9 overall record through 27 games this year so far.
In the Furman game last weekend, the Spartans came out of the gate with a 28-24 edge in the first half. The Spartans maintained form from there on a 30-26 run and took the victory 58-50 in the end. Kenyon Giles led the team with 19 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Ronald Polite added 15 points with five boards and five assists with one steal in 34 minutes as the only other player on the team to finish in double-figures. Tops off the bench was Malik Henry with six points, four boards, and three blocks to his name in 21 minutes of action.
East Tennessee State Buccaneers Betting Preview
Over on the East Tennessee State side, they’ve had a couple of good runs this year but overall it’s been a choppy run. The Bucs kicked off with a 6-2 stretch with wins over Newberry, Tusculum, USC Upstate, Queens U, Charlotte, and Austin Peay among losses to Eastern Kentucky and Davidson. A 2-5 stretch came next with wins over Elon and VMI among losses to James Madison, Wichita State, Jacksonville, Kansas City, and Wofford. ETSU beat Mercer, the Citadel, Samford, Western Carolina, Furman, VMI, and Samford again in the next 10 games with losses to Furman, Chattanooga, and UNC Greensboro otherwise. Since then it’s been a pair of losses to Western Carolina and Chattanooga. Overall through 27 games so far that gives the Buccaneers a 15-12 record in the books.
Matched up against Chattanooga on Saturday, the Buccaneers were down by six points going into the second half. East Tennessee State didn’t end up getting any closer than that, hitting a 42-41 deficit on the way to a 78-71 loss. Quimari Peterson led the team on 31 points with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. DJ Hughes added 11 points with nine rebounds and one assist with one block, and Maki Johnson put up 10 points with four rebounds. Davion Bradford had three of the five bench points with one rebound in six minutes of work.

East Tennessee State vs UNC Greensboro Prediction
I’ll stay with the Spartans here. UNC Greensboro dispatched a pretty good Furman team on the road in their last appearance, though it was something of an odd game. The Spartans shot just 39.3 percent from the field, however, they held the Paladins to just 26.8 percent on the other side. The Spartans were careful with the ball on just eight turnovers, but those morphed into a sizable 12 points for Furman. In any case, UNCG has now won four straight games with 74 or more points scored in three of those.
The Spartans took a 70-65 home win back on January 29 when these teams last met up. I’d like to see some more scoring in the road rematch, but UNC Greensboro should be okay.
