Central Arkansas Bears
Central Arkansas started the year on a sketchy run and posted a 6-14 record over their first 20 games. The Bears are just 3-4 in their last seven outings, losing to North Alabama, Jacksonville, Stetson and Lipscomb in that time.
In the Austin Peay game on Saturday, the Bears took a 38-30 lead into the locker room. Central Arkansas kept the pace on 38 more points from there and won 76-69. Eddy Kayouloud posted 24 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
Eastern Kentucky Colonels
Over on the Eastern Kentucky side, they managed a decent 12-8 record over their first 20 outings this year. The Colonels are 5-2 since then with wins over Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State and Queens NC.
Matched up against Liberty on Saturday, the Colonels were within three points at halftime 35-32. Eastern Kentucky didn’t end up getting any closer and lost 83-73. Devontae Blanton was the top team scorer on 26 points and seven assists.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll stick with Eastern Kentucky in this one. The Colonels are coming off a road loss to a pretty darn good Liberty team in their last outing, but they’ve been playing pretty well lately otherwise. Eastern Kentucky has hit 69 or more points in seven straight games and should score pretty well here also. These teams last met back on January 5 at Farris Center. The Colonels won that one 77-75 thanks to a 49-32 first half. Eastern Kentucky should be comfortable enough in the home rematch to power out a cover.
