The Montana State Bobcats and the Eastern Washington Eagles meet in the Big Sky conference championship game in college basketball action from the Idaho Central Arena on Saturday night.
The Montana State Bobcats reached the title game thanks to their 80-77 overtime win over top-seeded Southern Utah last time out. Amin Adamu led the Bobcats in scoring with 29 points on 11 of 19 shooting with 9 rebounds as well while Jubrile Belo added 22 points on 7 of 13 shooting with an 8 of 10 mark from the foul line and 8 rebounds to match his 8 blocks. Abdul Mohamed added 11 points with 14 rebounds in addition to 4 assists and a pair of steals for the double-double to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Montana State in the winning effort. Xavier Bishop also added 8 points with 4 assists of his own as well for Montana State in the victory.
The Eastern Washington Eagles punched their ticket to the conference championship with a 78-50 dismantling of Montana in their semi-final matchup. Jacob Groves led the Eagles in scoring with 21 points on 10 of 13 shooting with 4 rebounds while Tanner Groves added 18 points on 8 of 14 shooting with 3 assists and a pair of blocks as the only other double-digit scorer for Eastern Washington in the winning effort. Kim Aiken Jr. also chipped in 8 points with a team-high 10 rebounds and a pair of steals while Tyler Robertson dished out a team-high 4 assists in the victory.
Montana State is 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 20-8 in their last 28 games overall. Eastern Washington is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. The points with Montana State are tempting considering that the Bobcats showed us Friday that they can take down the best of the best in the conference. However, Eastern Washington’s just a different beast as we saw in their semi-final matchup as the Eagles just looked like a different team than the one that barely got by Northern Arizona in the first matchup. I just think we see the Eagles come to play again, and that’s bad news for Montana State. I’ll lay the points with Eastern Washington here.
