Elon vs William & Mary Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/11/23

The William & Mary Tribe and the Elon Phoenix meet Saturday in college basketball action from Schar Center. William & Mary enters this one at 9-16 overall. The Tribe lost to UNC Wilmington in their last game. As for Elon, they’re currently 5-20 after a loss to NC A&T on Wednesday. William & Mary Tribe 

William & Mary didn’t get off to the greatest start this year, going just 8-10 over their first 18 outings. The Tribe has since gone just 1-6 with losses to Charleston, Delaware, NC A&T, Towson, Hampton and UNC Wilmington. 

In the UNC Wilmington game last Saturday, the Tribe went into the locker room with a 31-28 deficit. William & Mary trailed 39-35 in the second half and ended up with a 70-63 loss. Chris Mullins posted 19 points to lead the team. 

Elon Phoenix

Over on the Elon side, they had an even rougher start, winning just two of their first 18 games. The Phoenix are 3-4 since then, losing to UNC Wilmington, Towson, Hofstra and NC A&T with wins over Drexel, Stony Brook and Northeastern in that time. 

On Wednesday versus NC A&T, the Phoenix were ahead 36-32 by halftime. Elon posted a 34-25 deficit in the second half however and lost 66-61. Torrence Watson was the top scorer on 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll take a stab on Elon here. The Phoenix haven’t been playing too badly lately. They’re 3-1 in the last four games, and they were flirting with a win over NC A&T before the bad second half in their last outing. Elon has 69 or more points in each of their last three wins, so it’s imperative that the team maintains a good scoring pace in this one. As for William & Mary, they’ve been a mixed bag lately and they’ve got just 120 combined points over the last two games. This should be an interesting matchup, but I’m leaning toward Elon cover-wise.
