The Missouri State Bears and the Evansville Aces meet Sunday in college basketball action from Ford Center. Missouri State is 13-12 so far this year. The Bears powered out a win over Belmont in their last game on Wednesday. As for Evansville, they’re just 5-21 so far and fresh off a victory versus Northern Iowa. Missouri State Bears
Missouri State started out the year at 8-9 overall in a sketchy run. The Bears are better in their last eight however, going 5-3 overall with wins over Indiana State, Drake, UIC, Valparaiso and Belmont alongside losses to Southern Illinois (twice) and Murray State.
In the Belmont matchup back on Wednesday, the Bears held a slim 35-33 edge at the break. The Bears scored another 26 points in the second half and held on for the 61-59 win. Donovan Clay led the team on 18 points and six rebounds.
Evansville Aces
Over on the Evansville side, they stumbled out of the gate this year with just four wins in their first 13 games. The Aces hit a rough losing streak from December 29 to February 4, but managed to break it with a win over Northern Iowa.
On Wednesday versus Northern Iowa, the Aces jumped out to a nice 43-26 advantage in the locker room. Evansville was outscored 33-28 from there but held on for the win 71-59. Yacine Toumi was the top team scorer on 15 points and nine boards.

I’ll probably stick with Missouri State in this one. It’s tempting to try Evansville here however, thanks to their solid win over Northern Iowa on Wednesday. That said, the Bears have some good showings over this 3-2 stretch (despite not scoring terribly well) and they’re coming off a nice win over a pretty talented Belmont team. The last time Missouri State played Evansville, the Bears posted an 85-62 win at JQH Arena back on January 4. It’s tempting to think the Aces might have another surprise up their sleeve here, but I’m still leaning toward the Bears. Taking Evansville makes complete sense as well, however.
