Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers

The Mountaineers managed to go a rough 6-12 over their first 18 games of the season. Since then Mount St. Mary’s is just 2-5, beating Marist and Quinnipiac with losses to Siena, Fairfield, Iona, Saint Peter’s and Siena again otherwise.

In the Siena rematch on Friday, the Mountaineers had it all tied up 33-33 by halftime. Mount St. Mary’s was outscored 39-32 from there and ended up losing 72-65, though. Dakota Leffew was tops on the team with 20 points and two rebounds.

Fairfield Stags

Over on the Fairfield side, they managed a 7-10 run across their first 17 games of the season. The Stags would then beat Canisius, Siena and Mount St. Mary’s before losses to Rider, Quinnipiac, Iona and Rider.

On Friday versus Rider, the Stags were within one point at 28-27 going into the second half. Fairfield kept the pace on a 30-30 run from there but still lost 58-57. Supreme Cook was the leading team scorer with 16 points and three rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Fairfield in this one. I could go either way, though. The Stags are coming off a tough road loss to a pretty decent Rider team, and they’re 0-2 in their last pair at home so they could use a good showing here. The good news for Fairfield is that they managed a 63-60 victory the last time these teams met up back on January 26 at Knott Arena. The Stags haven’t hit 70 points for 11 straight games, but they should still be able to manage Mount St. Mary’s. The Mountaineers haven’t been scoring very well themselves; they’ve been above 65 points just once since December 1. This one’s looking like a low total, so taking the Mountaineers seems sensible also.

Andrew's Free Pick: Fairfield Stags -6.5
