The Marshall Thundering Herd and the FIU Panthers meet in college basketball action from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday night.

The Marshall Thundering Herd will look to bounce back from an 87-77 loss to Rice last time out. Taevion Kinsey leads the Herd in scoring with 20.5 PPG along with 5.4 RPG and 4.4 APG while Obinna Anochili-Killen has 13.3 PPG and a team-high 6.8 RPG to lead Marshall on the glass. Andrew Taylor has 12.3 PPG with 5.8 RPG and a team-high 4.5 APG to lead the Herd in assists and round out the group of double-digit scorers for Marshall so far this season. Darius George also has 8.6 PPG and 5.4 RPG as well this season. As a team, Marshall is averaging 76.1 PPG on 43.7% shooting from the field, 27.2% from three and 69.5% from the foul line while allowing 76.6 PPG on 44.5% shooting from the field and 35.1% from three this season.

The FIU Panthers will try to rebound from a 50-39 loss to Middle Tennessee last time out. Tevin Brewer leads FIU in scoring and assists with 15 PPG and 5.8 APG along with 4.1 RPG while and Denver Jones has 12.2 PPG with 3.9 RPG and 2.6 APG to cap off the scoring in double figures for FIU so far this season. Clevon Brown also has 7.8 PPG with a team-high 5.8 RPG to lead the Panthers on the glass this year. As a team, FIU is averaging 71.9 PPG on 42.1% shooting from the field, 33.9% from three and 69.3% from the foul line while allowing 67.2 PPG on 40% shooting from the field and 30.2% from three this season.

Marshall is 7-18-3 ATS in their last 28 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games. FIU is 5-11 ATS in their last 16 home games and 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a loss.

I don’t want to look at either of these teams right now, as neither look like they could cover themselves with a bedsheet let alone cover a spread. With that said, neither side can apparently stop the other from scoring right now, and I think this is a spot where we blindly back the over and expect that to continue as trying to pick a side here is a wash.
