The Drake Bulldogs and the Florida Atlantic Owls meet Friday in college basketball action from TD Arena. Here’s a Florida Atlantic vs Drake prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Florida Atlantic vs Drake pick.
Drake Bulldogs Betting Preview
The Bulldogs are rolling along nicely through four games and sporting an undefeated record. Drake demolished York NE in their first outing of the year 93-41, then beat Stephen F. Austin 66-51. Game three was a tight 63-61 win over Florida Gulf Coast.
On Thursday versus Florida, the Bulldogs kept their streak going in a big way. Drake jumped out to a 36-27 first-half lead and poured in 44 more points from there in an 80-69 win. Bennett Stritz led the team on 21 points while Daniel Abreu doubled on 18 points and 10 boards.
Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview
Over on the Florida Atlantic side, they kicked off their season with a pair of wins 97-64 versus Southern Indiana and 99-49 over Coastal Georgia. The Owls would lose the next pair to UCF and Charleston before another win over Liberty 77-74.
The Owls improved their record to 4-2 overall with a solid win versus Oklahoma State on Thursday. FAU was trailing 39-34 going into the second half, then exploded for 52 more points in an 86-78 win. Kyky Tandy was tops on 21 points and four rebounds in the victory.
Florida Atlantic vs Drake Prediction
I’ll likely lean toward Drake. We should have a fun matchup in store here, though. The Bulldogs played a great overall game versus a decent Florida team on Thursday, hitting 46.4 percent from the field and 85.7 percent (24-of-28) from the line alongside a dominant 35-23 rebounding advantage (14-5 offensive) and just six turnovers. Drake’s only real blemish was a rough 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from 3-point range. The scoring lull of the previous two games (129 combined points) seems to have disappeared for the moment.
As for FAU, they started slowly against Oklahoma State, eventually getting outmuscled on the boards 57-45 with 15 turnovers. The Owls held the Cowboys to just 34.2 percent shooting, however, which helped a busy night from the line (35-of-49). FAU has given up 74 or more points in four straight games now, and with a hot-shooting Drake team on the court I don’t think the Owls will keep a cover pace. It’ll be a good one to watch, though.
