The Tulane Green Wave and the FAU Owls meet Saturday in college basketball action from Elanor R. Baldwin Arena. Tulane is fresh off a loss to North Texas that dropped the Wave to just 13-14 overall. As for Florida Atlantic, they’re 21-7 this year and coming off a loss to Memphis. Let’s get into our Tulane vs. FAU prediction. Tulane Green Wave

The Green Wave posted a 12-6 run over their first 18 games. The team hasn’t played as well lately though, notching just one win since January 21 (over Temple). Since that victory it’s been losses to Memphis, SMU, East Carolina, UAB and North Texas in succession.

In the North Texas matchup on Wednesday, the Green Wave fell behind 36-27 going into the second half. Tulane got better from there on 49 more points but still lost 80-76. Sion James, Kevin Cross and Collin Holloway each posted a team-high 17 points in the defeat.

FAU Owls

Over on the Florida Atlantic side, they lost just four of their first 22 outings. Those defeats came versus Bryant, Illinois, Florida Gulf Coast and Charlotte. The Owls are 3-3 in their last six games with wins over Wichita State, Temple and SMU alongside losses to UAB, South Florida and Memphis.

The Owls couldn’t quite handle Memphis on the road in their last outing on Sunday. In that matchup Florida Atlantic came into the second half with a 31-30 edge but eventually lost 78-74. Tops in scoring was Vladislav Goldin with his 22 points and eight rebounds in 28 minutes.

ANDREW’S FREE TULANE VS FAU PREDICTION

I’ll stick with FAU here. The Owls posted a valiant effort against a good Memphis team on the road in their last outing. Florida Atlantic managed 43.8 percent shooting in that one with 40 rebounds and 13 turnovers (leading to 18 Memphis points). The good news is that FAU has hit 73 or more points in seven straight games.

The last time these teams met up was a close one (with a wild finish). FAU won 85-84 on the road back on January 11, bagging a 42-33 rebounding edge. Tulane shot very well though, with 51.6 percent from the field and 10-of-22 (45.5 percent) from outside. I could see the Wave staying close in the rematch if they play well, but it should still be the Owls’ cover to take.
