The Royals managed a spotty 10-14 record over their first 24 games this year. Queens would then fall to Lipscomb, Austin Peay and North Florida in succession. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with wins over Jacksonville, Stetson and Kennesaw State alongside a lone loss to Florida Gulf Coast.

In the Kennesaw State game on Friday, the Royals came out of halftime with a 52-39 advantage. Queens posted a 43-39 deficit the rest of the way in an eventual 91-82 win. Leading scorer AJ McKee put up 25 points with six assists and one rebound along the way.

FGCU Eagles

Over on the Florida Gulf Coast side, they went 10-13 over their first 13 games. The next five had losses to North Alabama, Eastern Kentucky, Stetson and Kennesaw State. The Eagles have since won three straight over Queens, North Florida and Jacksonville, however.

In the Jacksonville game on Friday, the Eagles were up 31-27 at the break. Florida Gulf Coast hit a 30-28 run the rest of the way and held on for the tight win 59-57 in the end. Keeshawn Kellman was the leading team scorer on his 17 points, two blocks and two rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE QUEENS VS FLORIDA GULF COAST PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Florida Gulf Coast. This should be a pretty good matchup regardless, though. The Eagles were able to eke out a win over Jacksonville in their last game but it was far from perfect. FGCU shot a nice 48.9 percent from the field in that one but also coughed up 15 turnovers.

These teams have split the season series so far. Queens won 78-75 at home on January 10, then Florida Gulf Coast got one 90-81 at home on February 24. In that most recent meeting the Eagles ended up shooting a nice 53.2 percent from the field with 35 rebounds. This one may not be such a high-total finish, but I still like FGCU to power out the slim cover.
