The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the Florida International Panthers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from FIU Arena. Florida Gulf Coast is riding a five-game win streak and took out Fort Wayne in their last game. As for FIU, they’ve won six straight and are coming off a win over North Florida. Florida Gulf Coast started out a sketchy 1-2 with losses to Loyola and USC. Since then it’s been five straight wins, though. The victories came over Eckerd, Rhode Island, Western Michigan, Southeastern LA and Fort Wayne.

In the Fort Wayne game, Florida Gulf Coast used a 51-46 second-half advantage on the way to an 85-78 win. Tavian Dunn-Martin led the team on 27 points, and Kevin Samuel turned in 16 points with 13 rebounds.

Over on the FIU side, they lost to Georgia in their opener but haven’t dropped a game since. The Panthers have beaten Trinity-FL, Ball State, Green Bay, UNC-Greensboro, North Dakota and North Florida in that stretch.

On Sunday against North Florida, the Panthers had a two-point deficit at halftime and surged 48-31 from there in an 84-69 win. Petar Krivokapic put up 18 points with four boards and three assists. Denver Jones added 17 points and five rebounds.

The Panthers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five at home. FIU is 7-0 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 3-12 ATS in the last 15 Wednesday games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss. The over is 5-2 in FGCU’s last seven overall.

PICK: I’m probably sticking with FIU but staying away. This one looks like it’ll be a fun matchup, though. The Panthers shot a solid 54.9 percent from the field with 52.2 percent from 3-point range in their win over North Florida. FIU was a bit lacking on the boards though, with a 28-28 tie.

As for FGCU, they’ve scored well over their last three games with 77 or more points in each. I like this one to be a high-scoring game as well, with FIU eking out a late cover. Should be a good one to watch.
