The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the Florida International Panthers meet Saturday in college basketball action from FIU Arena. Middle Tennessee is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Florida Atlantic. In that one the Raiders lost by 18 points. As for Florida International, they played Western Kentucky in their Thursday matchup. The Panthers would go on to win by nine points. Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders
The Raiders started out the year on a 9-7 clip, losing to Winthrop, Missouri State, St. Bonaventure, Chattanooga, Charlotte, UTSA and North Texas. MTSU hit a 4-0 run from there, beating Rice, UAB, Charlotte and LA Tech.
On Thursday versus FAU, the Raiders took a 38-30 deficit into the locker room. Middle Tennessee was outscored 47-37 from there and lost 85-67. Eli Lawrence was tops on the team with 17 points and three rebounds.
FIU Panthers
Over on the Florida International side, they lost to NC State, Bryant, Eastern Michigan, FGCU, Howard, FAU (twice) and North Texas in their first 16 games. The Panthers hit a 1-3 run after that with losses to Western Kentucky, North Texas and UTEP.
Matched up against Western Kentucky again on Thursday, FIU was down 36-34 going into the second half. The Panthers hit a 44-33 advantage from there and won it 78-69 in comeback fashion. Denver Jones led the way on 17 points.

I might take a stab on Middle Tennessee here. The Raiders have been scoring pretty well during this 4-1 stretch with 67 or more points in four of the five outings. The road matchup with FAU on Thursday was a tough one, however Middle Tennessee should match up better here. As for Florida International, they’ve scored a combined 155 points over the last two games after a string of three outings with 61 or fewer points. I like this one to be a fairly high total with the Raiders eking out a cover. Should be a fun matchup.
