The North Dakota Fighting Hawks and the FIU Panthers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from FIU Arena. North Dakota is sitting at 2-3 so far this year and coming off a five-point loss to TN-Martin. As for FIU, they’ve won four straight games, most recently over UNC Greensboro. North Dakota began their year with a 75-60 loss to Milwaukee, but then managed tight wins in their next pair over Montana 79-77 and Troy 74-72. The Hawks took another loss in the Florida Atlantic game 98-79.

On Sunday against TN-Martin, the Hawks fell again. This time North Dakota had a two-point deficit at the half, but faded down the stretch in a 77-72 loss. Caleb Nero led the team on 20 points with five rebounds and three assists.

Over on the FIU side, they took a 58-51 loss to Georgia in their opener but hit a winning streak afterward. The Panthers’ next three games were victories over Trinity College FL 111-48, Ball State 73-60 and Green Bay 63-60.

The Panthers played a tight game versus UNC Greensboro and needed overtime to decide the outcome. FIU outscored the Spartans 9-6 in the extra period for a 74-71 win. Clevon Brown led the team on 18 points and five rebounds.

The Panthers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 at home and 0-5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS win. FIU is 6-0 ATS in their last six Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are 1-6 ATS in the last seven road games and the over is 14-3 in their last 17 overall. North Dakota is 1-7 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to try FIU in this one. The Panthers weren’t quite dominant in the UNC Greensboro game, and they were out-rebounded 42-36 on the boards. FIU shot 45.9 percent from the floor however, which helped the team eke out the OT win.

As for North Dakota, they’ve been scoring well with 72 or more points in each of their last four games. I like the Hawks to put up a decent offensive outing here and keep up for most of the game, but I think this is FIU’s cover to take.
