Florida International vs Stony Brook 11/23/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Stony Brook Seawolves and the FIU Panthers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from FIU Arena. Stony Brook is 1-3 on the year and coming off a loss to Brown. Stony Brook had a hard time with Florida in their opener and lost 81-45. The Seawolves bounced back with a win over Miami-Hamilton in game two 86-65 but then lost to Rhode Island 74-64 in game three. 

Back on Thursday versus Brown, Stony Brook had a 31-30 edge by halftime. The Seawolves were outscored 34-22 from there in a 64-53 loss. Tops in scoring was Tyler Stephenson with 20 points and seven rebounds. 

Over on the FIU side, they took care of Houston Baptist 77-66 in their opener. Game two was another win 95-74 over Florida National. The Panthers took their first loss in game three to NC State by a score of 107-74. 

FIU faced off against Bryant in their last outing on Saturday. The Panthers had a 51-43 lead going into the second half, but hit a 48-34 deficit in the second during a 91-85 loss. Denver Jones led the team on 22 points with six rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on FIU. Probably not going near this one, though. Both teams are coming off rough outings and could use a good bounce-back effort. FIU shot a solid 46 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from 3-point range in the loss to Bryant. The Panthers were outpaced in rebounds 42-36 and assists 20-18 however. As for Stony Brook, they’ve scored 64 points or fewer in three of four games so far and may have trouble keeping pace in this one. If FIU can get to scoring early I think they’ll be fine on a potential cover.
