The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Florida State Seminoles meet Saturday in college basketball action from Donald L. Tucker Center.
Wake Forest enters this one at 6-8 overall. The Demon Deacons are 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a win over Boston College. As for Florida State, they’re 10-3 this year. Wake Forest opened up their year at 3-0 before suffering six straight losses in ACC play. The Deacons have since gone 3-2 in their last five games. The losses have come to NC State and Notre Dame; the wins are courtesy of Pittsburgh, Miami and Boston College.
In the 69-65 win over Boston College on Wednesday, Wake Forest’s Ian DuBose led the team on 17 points with five rebounds and three assists. Ody Oguama doubled up on 13 points with 10 boards, and Isaiah Mucius had 10 points with eight rebounds.
Over on the Florida State side, their year kicked off at 5-2 with losses to Central Florida and Clemson. The Seminoles beat NC State, North Carolina, Louisville, Clemson and Miami in their next five before a loss to Georgia Tech.
In the 76-65 loss to the Yellow Jackets, Florida State’s only double-digit scorer was Raiquan Gray with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Scottie Barnes added nine points with five assists and three rebounds in 23 minutes on the floor as well.
Florida State is 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite. The Seminoles are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and the over is 5-1-1 in the last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Deacons are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games. Wake Forest is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.
PICK: I like Florida State here. The Seminoles had a bad game in their last outing versus a slippery Georgia Tech squad, but had been playing well prior to that. In Florida State’s previous five outings they’d hit 78 or more points every time. Wake Forest hasn’t seen 70 points since January 23, as span of four games. If they play to their capabilities the cover should be there for the Seminoles.
