The Manhattan Jaspers and the Fordham Rams meet Monday in college basketball action from Rose Hill Gym. Manhattan is 3-2 on the year and coming off a blowout loss to UConn on Friday. As for Fordham, they’re 2-3 following a loss to Kent State last Monday. Check out our Manhattan vs Fordham Prediction.

Manhattan Jaspers

The Jaspers managed to win three of their first four games this year. Manhattan lost to Kansas 99-61 in that time, but otherwise toppled Bryant, Felician and Central Connecticut State. In the win over the Blue Devils, the Jaspers shot 50 percent from the field with 29 rebounds in a 67-63 finish. 

Manhattan ran into the UConn steamroller in their last outing, and understandably lost in a blowout. The Jaspers were down 49-32 by the break and ended up with a 90-60 defeat after just 28 second-half points. Leading the team was Seydou Traore with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Fordham Rams 

Over on the Fordham side, they went 2-1 over their first three games with a loss to Cornell 78-73 sandwiched between wins versus Wagner and Norfolk State. The Rams followed that up with a loss 59-45 to Abilene Christian, in which Fordham shot just 29.6 percent from the field and 8.3 percent (1-of-12) from outside. 

Fordham notched another defeat in their last outing, this time versus Kent State. The Rams were up 43-40 going into the break, then hit a 10-point deficit in a 79-72 result. Tops in scoring was Japhet Medor with 18 points, two assists and three steals in the losing effort. 

ANDREW’S FREE FORDHAM VS MANHATTAN PREDICTION

I’ll likely stick with Manhattan in this one. The Jaspers are coming off their toughest game of the season so far against UConn, giving up 58.1 percent from the floor and 45 percent (9-of-20) from 3-point range to a great team. This game should obviously be more manageable, but Manhattan needs to bump up the scoring. They’ve hit 67 or fewer points in four of their five games so far. 

As for Fordham, they shot just 36.2 percent from the field versus Kent State but rebounded fairly well (35) in the loss. If Fordham is hitting shots they’re capable of easily posting a good pace here, but I like Manhattan slightly better cover-wise.
