Colorado State Rams
The Rams’ season began on a very nice 13-1 run. The lone blemish in that time was a loss to Saint Mary’s 64-61. Colorado State is just 3-4 since then however, with losses to Utah State, Boise State, Nevada and Wyoming among wins versus Air Force, UNLV and San Diego State.
In the San Diego State matchup on Tuesday, the Rams were up 37-29 by halftime. Colorado State kept it rolling in the second half with 42 more points in a 79-71 win. Both Isaiah Stevens (six assists; three steals) and Nique Clifford (10 rebounds) scored a team-high 20 points apiece.
Fresno State Bulldogs
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they didn’t start off horribly at 6-4 through 10 games. Fresno State is just 3-8 since then however, with losses to Portland State, San Francisco, San Diego State, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah State, Boise State and UNLV during that stretch.
Matched up against UNLV in their Tuesday game, the Bulldogs were down by nine points heading into the second half. Fresno State didn’t get any closer on a 41-41 run from there and took the loss 78-69. Enoch Boakye was the team’s top performer on 16 points and 10 boards in the defeat.
ANDREW’S FREE COLORADO STATE VS FRESNO STATE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with Colorado State. The Rams have been on a pretty sketchy run lately, however they played well versus a good San Diego State team in their last outing. Colorado State hit 53.8 percent from the field in that one during a solid offensive performance. The Rams have scored 76 or more points in four of the last five games.
As for Fresno State, they’ve given up 70 or more points in five straight games (a 2-3 run) but generally they’re not scoring too badly themselves lately. The Bulldogs will have their hands full here, and I don’t think they’ll be able to keep a cover pace if the Rams are playing well.
