Utah State Aggies
Utah State went 13-3 over their first 16 games this year, losing to only Weber State, SMU and Boise State along the way. The Aggies are 3-2 since then with wins over Wyoming, UNLV and San Jose State alongside losses to Nevada and San Diego State.
In the SanDiego State game on Wednesday, the Aggies were drilled 42-27 in the first half. Utah State got beer on a 48-43 second-half run but still lost 85-75. Leading scorer Taylor Funk put up 22 points with four rebounds.
Fresno State Bulldogs
Over on the Fresno State side, they beat Fresno Pacific, CSUN, UC Irvine, CSUB, Wyoming and New Mexico in their first 16 games. The Bulldogs have gone 1-2 since then with a win over UNLV and losses to Air Force and Boise State.
In the Boise State matchup on Tuesday, the Bulldogs went into the break with a 25-23 lead. Fresno State was outscored 40-28 in the second half and lost 63-53. Isaiah Hill led the team on 14 points, and Eduardo Andre doubled on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll likely stay with Utah State in this one. The Aggies need a good bounce-back effort after the road loss to a quality San Diego State team in their last outing, however. Utah State has had their offense working lately; they’ve hit 70 or more points in five straight games. As for Fresno State, it’s been a sketchy 1-4 ride after the epic win over New Mexico. The Bulldogs scored 64 or fewer in four of those five outings, and I don’t think they’ll keep the pace here either.
