The Samford Bulldogs and the Furman Paladins meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Timmons Arena. Samford is 10-2 this year and fresh off a win over Ole Miss. As for Furman, they’re 8-5 so far. the Paladins beat Presbyterian in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Samford posted a nice 6-2 run over their first eight games, falling to San Francisco and Belmont as their only blemishes. Since then the Bulldogs have won four straight over Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Kennesaw State and Ole Miss.

In the Rebels game, the Bulldogs were down 42-36 at the break. Samford surged on a 39-31 run from there to power out the 75-73 comeback win. Leading scorer Ques Glover finished on 21 points, two assists and five rebounds.

Over on the Furman side, they also hit a 6-2 run over their first eight games. The Paladins lost to Belmont and Navy in that stretch. Since then it’s been a 2-3 run with wins over Appalachian State and Presbyterian.

In the Presbyterian matchup back on December 21, the Paladins scored 42 points in the first half and 33 more from there in a 75-61 win. Mike Bothwell was tops on 21 points, and Jalen Slawson added 18 points with eight boards.

The Paladins are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight at home and 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS win. Furman is 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine overall.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four road games and 6-18-3 ATS in their last 27 after an ATS win. Samford is 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Samford. The Bulldogs are coming off a nice game versus Ole Miss, shooting 50.9 percent from the field with 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from 3-point range and 36 rebounds. Samford has been scoring well this year, with 73 or more points in eight of their last nine outings. Furman is a pretty good scoring team as well when the matchup is right, but I don’t think the Paladins will ultimately be able to cover this one.
