Morgan State blew right though St. Mary’s-MD in their opener, scoring 58 points in the first half and 60 more in the second on the way to a 118-55 blowout win. De’Torrion Ware led the team on 27 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Game two against Penn State-Alleghany was another good one for the Bears. Morgan State posted a whopping 69 first-half points and cruised to a 126-71 result. Keith McGee came off the bench to lead the team on 27 points, two rebounds, two assists and eight steals.
Over on the George Mason side, they turned a 35-28 halftime edge into a 74-52 win over Stony Brook in their opener this year. The Patriots’ top scorer was Josh Oduro with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes on the floor.
In their second outing, the Patriots secured another victory. George Mason jumped out to a 43-27 edge at halftime over Penn and eventually took it 87-66. Oduro was again the leading team scorer with 20 points and eight rebounds. D’Shawn Schwartz added 18 more points as well.
The Patriots are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-0 ATS in the last four at home. George Mason is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. The under is 3-0-1 in Morgan State’s last four after a straight-up win.
PICK: I’m going with George Mason. This should be an interesting matchup regardless, however. The Patriots haven’t had too much difficulty so far, and they’re shooting well. George Mason put up 56.4 percent from field goal range against Penn in their last game, shooting 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from 3-point range also.
As for the Bears, it’s tough to know what to make of them after two “easy” matchups, but to the team’s credit they’ve taken care of business in a definitive way so far. Morgan State shot a blistering 56.0 percent against Penn State-Alleghany in their last game, but scoring won’t be so easy here.
