Saint Louis managed an 11-6 run through their first 17 games, falling to Memphis, UAB, Belmont, Auburn, Dayton and UMass along the way. The last three games have been wins over UMass, George Washington and Duquesne.
In the Duquesne game on Saturday, the Billikens posted a 42-29 run in the first half and a 35-24 stretch from there in a 77-53 win. Leading scorers Fred Thatch and Francis Okoro each notched 14 points and a combined 11 rebounds.
Over on the George Mason side, they began their season at 7-5 overall. The Patriots were only able to play one game (a loss to Kansas) between December 21 and January 17, though. Since then it’s been a 4-1 run with wins over Dayton, Saint Joseph’s, St. Bonaventure and UMass.
Matched up against UMass on Sunday, the Patriots had a 37-27 lead at halftime. George Mason kept up the pace on the way to a 72-62 win. Leading scorer D’Shawn Schwartz finished with 15 points, two rebounds and three assists in the victory.
The Patriots are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 at home and 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall. George Mason is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Billikens are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. St. Louis is 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Saint Louis. The Billikens have gotten their offense working over the last four games, hitting 77 or more points in each outing. George Mason has hit 72 or more in each of their last three games however, so this one is looking like it could be a high-total finish. That said, if Saint Louis can get off to a nice start in the first half I think they’ll be able to cruise to a cover. Should be a fun one to watch.
