Saint Joseph’s Hawks Betting Preview
The Hawks have had a pretty solid year overall, with some ups and downs along the way. St. Josephs’ kicked off the year on a 10-4 run, taking wins over Navy, Villanova, Penn, Texas Tech, Coppin State, La Salle, American, Virginia Tech, Delaware State and UMass. Losses to Saint Louis, Duquesne, VCU, Dayton, Loyola and George Mason came over the next 11 outings, then wins over George Washington, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Fordham and Rhode Island. Since then it’s been a loss to La Salle ahead of tourney wins over La Salle and Dayton.
On Friday versus Dayton, the Hawks held a 33-24 edge at the break, but ultimately needed overtime to power out the win 73-68. Leading the team in scoring was Erik Reynolds with 21 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Xzayvier Brown added 20 points with seven rebounds and two assists in 43 minutes of action.

George Mason Patriots Betting Preview
Over on the George Mason side, they’ve had a pretty solid and consistent year overall despite a spotty 2-3 start. After that the Patriots took wins over Coppin State, Ferrum, James Madison, UNC Asheville and Tulane before a loss to Duke. Wins over Penn, Mount St. Mary’s and Davidson came next, then a loss to Rhode Island. George Mason would then take a win streak over Richmond, UMass, Dayton, George Washington, St. Bonaventure, Loyola, Davidson, George Washington, Rhode Island, Saint Louis and Saint Joseph’s before losses to VCU and Duquesne (and a win over Fordham) in the next trio. Since then it’s been wins over La Salle, Richmond and George Washington. That gives the Patriots a 25-7 run through 32 games this season so far.
On Friday versus George Washington, the Patriots were in trouble with a 42-38 deficit at the break. George Mason hit a 42-23 run the rest of the way during an 80-65 win in the end, though. Leading the team in scoring was Jalen Haynes with 24 points and five rebounds with a pair of steals. Darius Maddox added 11 points with four rebounds, and Brayden O’Connor had 10 points with five rebounds and four assists. Jared Billups came off the bench to contribute 18 points with seven rebounds and five steals in 27 minutes of work in the victory, while KD Johnson had 11 points and five assists in 26 minutes off the bench.

George Mason vs Saint Joseph’s Prediction
I’m going to lean toward George Mason. The Patriots had a slow start in the first half during their win over George Washington, but eventually shot a nice 56.6 percent from the field with a 31-24 rebounding edge. George Mason got pretty sloppy on 14 turnovers for 18 Revolutionaries points, but scored 22 themselves on 15 GW miscues on the other side. It was a pretty well-rounded effort overall outside of the turnovers, but I’d like to see a faster start this time. In any case, George Mason now has three straight wins, but they’ve also been below 70 points in three of the last four outings (a 3-1 run).
These teams last met back on February 15 in a tight 58-57 home win for the Patriots. George Mason shot 44.7 percent from the field with a 31-26 rebounding edge in that one, and also came back from a 37-26 halftime deficit. The Patriots need some more energy on offense in this tournament rematch, but I think they’ve got a solid shot at powering one out. That said, Saint Joseph’s should be able to keep the pace if they’re playing well. It’ll be a good one.
