The Delaware Blue Hens and the George Washington Revolutionaries meet Sunday in college basketball action from Baha Mar Convention Center. Delaware took their first loss of the year on Saturday versus UNC Greensboro, dropping to 5-1 overall. As for George Washington, they also fell to 5-1 overall on Saturday with a loss to UIC. Check out our Delaware vs George Washington Prediction.

Delaware Blue Hens

The Hens kicked off the season with a nice five-game winning streak. Delaware took out Bucknell, Goldy-Beacom, Air Force, Delaware State and Brown in that time. In the win over the Bears on Friday, the Hens shot just 40.3 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from 3-point range but also had a pretty good defensive game.

Delaware was in trouble at halftime in the Saturday matchup versus UNC Greensboro, down 41-29. The Hens got better from there but still lost 88-77. Leading the way was Cavan Reilly with 24 points and three rebounds. Gerald Drumgoole added 22 points off the bench.

George Washington Revolutionaries

Over on the Revolutionaries’ side, they opened up the year with five straight victories. Those wins came against Stonehill, William & Mary, Hofstra, New Hampshire and Ohio in succession. During the 99-94 double-overtime win versus Ohio, George Washington

In Saturday’s matchup versus UIC, George Washington was down 46-37 at the break and didn’t end up getting closer in an 89-79 defeat. Tops in scoring on the team was James Bishop with 22 points and six assists in the losing effort.

ANDREW’S FREE GEORGE WASHINGTON VS DELAWARE PREDICTION

I’ll probably stick with Delaware. So long as the Hens can regroup and play to their capabilities here, that is. Delaware had a sluggish first half against a good UNC Greensboro team on Saturday, but they didn’t play horribly overall. The Hens ended up with 41.7 percent from the field and a 40-30 rebounding advantage (13-7 offensive) but also gave up 48.3 percent shooting on the other side. Delaware is going to need to clamp down the defense on Sunday.

As for George Washington, they gave up 50.8 percent shooting from the field and 40.6 percent from 3-point range to a pretty good UIC team in their Saturday game. The Revolutionaries hit just eight of their 26 attempts from 3-point range and shot 40.9 percent overall themselves, but weren’t terrible in their loss either. Sunday’s matchup should be a pretty good one. I’m sticking with Delaware, but you could make a case either way.
