The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Saturday in college basketball action from Capital One Arena. Here’s a Georgetown vs Notre Dame prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Georgetown vs Notre Dame pick.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview
The Irish have two games in the bag so far, and both have been wins. Notre Dame took on Stonehill College in their opener, notching a 46-29 halftime edge on the way to an 89-60 win. Leading scorers Braeden Shrewsberry and Markus Burton each had 18 points in the victory.
Game two was a matchup versus Buffalo. Notre Dame was in trouble at halftime with a 40-38 deficit but then hit a 48-37 run the rest of the way for an 86-77 win. Tae Davis was the best this time with 27 points and six rebounds.
Georgetown Hoyas
Over on the Hoyas’ side, they’ve got a pair of wins in the can as well this year. Georgetown’s opener was against Lehigh, and the Hoyas rode a 44-39 first half to an eventual win 85-77. Thomas Sorber (13 rebounds) and Micah Peavy each had a team-high 20 points along the way.
Last weekend versus Fairfield, the Hoyas were up by a modest three points heading into the second half. Georgetown outscored the Stags 33-24 from there and won 69-57. Sorber was again the leading scorer, notching 25 points and nine rebounds.
Why the Georgetown Hoyas will win

- Georgetown has won each of its last four games against non-conference opponents.
- Georgetown has won the first half in each of its last three home games against non-conference opponents.
Why the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will win
- Georgetown has lost 17 of its last 18 games when playing with a rest advantage.
- Notre Dame has won each of its last three games against non-conference opponents.
- Georgetown has lost the first half in each of its last five games against the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Georgetown vs Notre Dame Prediction
I’ll stick with Notre Dame. We should have a pretty fun matchup here regardless, though. The Irish started a bit slow against Buffalo in their latest win but eventually posted 50.8 percent shooting, 16 team assists, and a 41-38 rebounding edge. The 3-point shooting (5-of-20) left a bit to be desired, though.
As for Georgetown, they shot a nice 47.4 percent from the field with a 39-32 rebounding advantage and 15 team assists in the win over Fairfield. The Hoyas’ major blemish was 18 turnovers, however, so they’ll need to take much better care of the ball on Saturday. Ultimately I like Notre Dame to power out the cover/win, but it’ll be a good one to watch.
