Providence Friars

Providence managed a 15-5 run amid some tough matchups in their first 20 games. The Friars are 5-3 since then with wins over Butler, Villanova, Georgetown, Creighton and Villanova again. The losses came versus Xavier, St. John’s and UConn.

In the UConn matchup back on Wednesday, the Friars trailed 37-32 by the break. Providence was outscored 50-37 from there and lost 87-69. Tops in scoring was Bryce Hopkins with 16 points, and Jared Bynum added 14 points.

Georgetown Hoyas

Over on the Georgetown side, they were sitting at a rough 6-16 after 22 games this year. The Hoyas are just 1-6 in their last seven since then with losses to Creighton, UConn, Providence, Marquette, Seton Hall and St. John’s.

Matched up against St. John’s on Wednesday, the Hoyas trailed 40-32 going into the second half. Georgetown scored another 38 points from there in an eventual 79-70 defeat. Brandon Murray was tops on the team on 25 points with five boards.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with Providence in this one. The Friars are on a sketchy 3-3 run right now but they’ve scored 68 or more points in 10 straight games. These teams last met up on February 8 at Dunkin’ Donuts Center in a 74-62 Providence victory. Georgetown has been sketchy in the win column lately but they’ve posted a combined 145 points in their last two at Capital One Arena. Providence is going to need to get off to a good offensive start and play a complete game here but I think they’ll be fine on a cover.

Andrew's Free Pick: Providence Friars -9
