The Wagner Seahawks and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Tuesday in college basketball action from McDonough Arena. Here’s a Georgetown vs Wagner prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Georgetown vs Wagner pick.
Wagner Seahawks Betting Preview
Wagner’s year got kicked off with an ugly 1-3 skid. The lone win came versus Manor; otherwise, it was losses to Rutgers, St. John’s, and Seton Hall. The Seahawks were able to regroup with a 60-58 win over Boston U in game five, though.
Wagner was able to make it consecutive wins for the first time this year on Saturday versus Springfield. After a 40-32 edge in the first half, Wagner finished on a 41-14 run for an 81-46 victory. Zaire Williams led the team with 19 points with three rebounds in that one.
Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview
Over on the Georgetown side, they got things started with wins over Lehigh and Fairfield in their first pair. The Hoyas would fall 84-63 to Notre Dame in game three but picked it back up with a blowout win over Mount St. Mary’s last Wednesday.
In their Saturday matchup with St. Francis PA, the Hoyas got off to a slow start. Georgetown was up by just one point at halftime, then woke up on a 45-29 run on the way to an 82-65 win. Micah Peavy notched a team-high 24 points, and Jayden Epps added 23 points.
Why the Georgetown Hoyas will win
- Wagner has lost each of its last 18 games against the Big East Conference.
- Georgetown has won six of its last seven games against non-conference opponents.
- Wagner has lost the first half in each of its last 18 games against the Big East Conference.
Why the Wagner Seahawks will win
- Georgetown has lost 14 of its last 16 night games.
- Wagner has won seven of its last eight games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
- Wagner has won the first half in eight of its last 10 night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Georgetown vs Wagner Prediction
I’ll probably end up just staying with Georgetown here. The Hoyas didn’t have too much trouble versus St. Francis PA despite dragging their feet a bit in the first half. Georgetown ended up shooting 43.5 percent from the field with just nine turnovers but did get out-rebounded 41-36 along the way. This will be a good opportunity for the Hoyas to reassert themselves on the glass.
As for Wagner, they’ve been below 61 points in four of their six games so far. To be fair, however, the Seahawks have played a few tricky teams in that stretch. Still, I don’t think Wagner will keep a cove pace on Georgetown if the Hoyas are playing to their capabilities (and rebounding better).
