Georgetown vs WI-Green Bay 11/12/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Green Bay Phoenix and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Saturday in college basketball action from Capital One Arena. Green Bay is 0-1 so far following an opener loss to Indiana State. Green Bay had a rough season in 2021-22. The Phoenix went just 5-25 overall and 4-16 in Horizon League play. The Phoenix finished ahead of only IUPUI (1-16) in the standings and lost to Detroit in the tournament. 

In their first action of the season back on Monday versus Indiana State, the Phoenix started off on a sour note. Green Bay was down by only three at halftime but had a rough second half in an 80-53 loss. Davin Zeigler led the team on 19 points and eight rebounds. 

Over on the Georgetown side, they’re coming off a pretty dismal season as well. The Hoyas limped to a 6-25 overall record in 2021-22 and went winless in 19 Big East games. Georgetown landed in last place by a six-game margin. 

The good news for the Hoyas is that they were able to pull off a win over Coppin State in their first game. Georgetown needed overtime to do it, but they won 99-89. Amir Spears managed 28 points, and Akok Akok doubled on 18 points and 12 boards. 

PICK: I’m leaning Georgetown. Probably not touching this one, though. I probably would have taken Green Bay if not for the dismal second half in their opener. The Phoenix were outscored 46-22 after the break—but the team did play reasonably well in the first half. As for Georgetown, they shot 47.9 percent with 51 rebounds in their OT win versus Coppin State this week. If the Hoyas can work the boards like that in this matchup they should be fine on a cover.
