Georgia State vs Georgia Tech 11/12/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Georgia State Panthers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Georgia State Convocation Center. Georgia Tech is 1-0 so far following a win over Clayton State in their opener. As for Georgia State, they’re coming off a victory over Coastal Georgia. Georgia Tech posted a spotty 12-20 record overall last year, going 5-15 in a loaded ACC. The Yellow Jackets finished way down in the standings, ahead of only NC State (4-16). Georgia Tech fell to Louisville in the conference tourney. 

In their first outing of the year versus Clayton State, the Yellow Jackets had a 34-34 tie at halftime. Georgia Tech turned it on in the second for a 93-63 win. Lance Terry led the way on 16 points, and Rodney Howard doubled on 15 points and 13 boards. 

Over on the Georgia State side, they had a surprising run last season at 18-11 overall and 9-5 in Sun Belt play. The Panthers were in third place in the standings and ultimately won the conference tournament. Georgia State fell in the First Round of the national tourney, however. 

The Panthers got off to a good start in 2022-23 with a victory in their first game over Coastal Georgia. Georgia State put up 45 points in the second half during a 76-59 win. Ja’Heim Hudson had 16 points and 10 boards, while Dwon Odom added 16 points of his own. 

PICK: I’m likely going to go with Georgia State. This is a bit of a tough game to predict, however; both teams are coming off pretty easy wins versus overmatched opponents. That said, Georgia Tech struggled in the first half versus Clayton State. The Jackets would eventually shoot 47.9 percent from the field and haul in 52 rebounds in a blowout win, however. Georgia State should be much more comparable in talent level, and I think the Panthers can get into a cover at home.
