Georgia kept their run going on Friday versus Florida A&M. The Bulldogs were up 34-23 at halftime and scored 34 more points from there in a 68-46 win. Mardrez McBride led the team on 15 points with nine rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Georgia Tech side, they beat Clayton State, Georgia State and Northern Illinois in their first trio before losses to Utah and Marquette. After losses to North Alabama and Iowa the Yellow Jackets took a win over Northeastern.
In Friday’s matchup versus Northeastern, the Yellow Jackets scored 42 points in the first half and 39 more after the break for an 81-63 blowout win. Both Jalon Moore and Miles Kelly scored 16 points apiece, and Rodney Howard added 12 points.
PICK: I’ll stick with Georgia in this one. The Bulldogs did a nice job against an overmatched Florida A&M team in their last outing, shooting 48.1 percent from the field with 40 rebounds and 16 assists. There were a couple things for Georgia to clean up though, namely the 15 turnovers and 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from the line.
The Bulldogs have been posting good defensive numbers lately; they’ve given up 61 or fewer points in five of their last six games. They may have a little trouble with Georgia Tech however; the Yellow Jackets are capable of scoring well when the matchup is right. That said I still like Georgia a little better cover-wise.
