Georgia Tech vs Northern Illinois 11/17/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northern Illinois Huskies and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets meet in college basketball action from the McCamish Pavilion on Thursday night.

The Northern Illinois Huskies will be out to build on their 99-73 win over subdivision Purdue Northwest last time out. Zach Nutter led the charge for NIU with 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting with a team-high 7 rebounds along with 3 steals while Keshawn Williams added 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting with a team-high 7 assists. David Colt added 11 points on 4 of 9 shooting with 3 threes and 5 assists to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for NIU in the win. Anthony Crump added 9 points with 7 rebounds and 3 steals as well in the win.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will hope to build on a 59-57 win over Georgia State last time out. Dailan Coleman led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points along with 5 rebounds while Miles Kelly added 15 points on 6 of 13 shooting as the only other double-digit scorer for Georgia Tech in the win. Jalen Moore also added 7 points to match his 7 rebounds as well in the winning effort.

Northern Illinois is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win. Georgia Tech is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 home games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following an ATS win.

It’s hard to get much of a feel for either of these teams as three of their combined five games to this point have come against subdivision opponents. However, Northern Illinois actually lost one of those games to a subdivision opponent and I’m still a bit sour about that when it comes to backing NIU. Georgia Tech is just the better team in the better state right now, so I’ll back the Yellow Jackets here.
