The Rider Broncs and the Georgia Bulldogs meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Stegeman Coliseum. Rider is currently 5-5 overall this year. The Broncs beat Marist in their last game. As for Georgia, they’re sitting at 9-3 on the season following a win over Chattanooga. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Rider’s five wins have come courtesy of TCNJ, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary’s, Stonehill and Marist. Otherwise it’s been losses to Providence. Stetson, Central AR, Rutgers and Delaware this year for the Broncs.

Last Thursday versus Marist, Rider was up 42-36 by the break. The Broncs kept the pace from there and won it 77-71. Allen Betrand led the team on 19 points with two rebounds, and Dwight Murray provided 17 points with five rebounds.

Over on the Georgia side, they’ve lost to only Wake Forest, UAB and Georgia Tech so far. The Bulldogs have beaten Western Carolina, Miami-OH, Bucknell, St. Joseph’s, East TN State, Hampton, Florida A&M, Notre Dame and Chattanooga otherwise.

In their game versus Chattanooga last Wednesday, the Bulldogs trailed 33-30 going into the second half. Georgia stormed back on a 42-32 run and took the comeback win 72-65. Kario Oquendo topped the team on 22 points with three boards.

PICK: I might take a stab on Rider here. The Broncs have been a mixed bag so far this season. That said, Rider hasn’t been scoring too badly over their last five games: they’ve hit 68 or more in four of those five, going 4-1 in the record column. If the Broncs get off to a good start here I think they can stay in cover range. Georgia isn’t going to be the easiest opponent; the Bulldogs have scored 68 or more in five straight themselves. I think the Broncs can ultimately power out a cover, though.
