Grand Canyon Antelopes

Grand Canyon finished off their regular season with a decent 20-11 record. The Antelopes beat Southern Utah and Utah Tech in their final pair, then took out TX-Arlington, Seattle and Sam Houston State in the first three rounds of the conference tournament.

In the Southern Utah game on Saturday, the Antelopes were up 44-31 going into the second half. Grand Canyon hit a 40-35 stretch from there and won 84-66. Rayshon Harrison was the top team scorer with 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

Over on the Gonzaga side, they were 26-5 at the end of the regular season. The Bulldogs ended the year on a seven-game win streak. In the first game of the West Coast Tournament, Gonzaga beat San Francisco 84-73 to keep it going.

Last Tuesday in the St. Mary’s matchup, the Bulldogs got off to a nice 37-19 start by halftime. Gonzaga posted a 40-32 second half and got the victory 77-51. Drew Timme was the high man on 18 points, and Anton Watson added 10 rebounds with nine points.

I’m going to stay with Gonzaga. The Bulldogs have won nine straight games and they’re playing very well right now. Gonzaga has logged 77 or more points in each of those nine games, and they’ve got 97 or more points in four of their last seven. As for Grand Canyon, they’re sitting on a six-game win streak and had a great conference tournament run. The Antelopes ave scored 71 or more points in all six of those outings, so they may be able to keep pace here for a while. Ultimately I think Gonzaga pulls away and covers, though.
