The North Florida Ospreys and the Gonzaga Bulldogs meet Sunday in college basketball action from McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane. Here’s a Gonzaga vs North Florida prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Gonzaga vs North Florida pick.

North Florida Ospreys Betting Preview

The Ospreys have had a rough year so far. North Florida opened with losses to Florida and Tennessee, then got their first win over New College FL. North Florida lost to Wofford, Southern Miss and Prairie View in the next trio ahead of another win versus Trinity College of Jacksonville. After another loss to SIU Edwardsville in the next game, the Ospreys were left with a 2-6 record overall through their first eight games of the season.

In the SIU Edwardsville game on Tuesday, the Ospreys couldn’t keep pace in an eventual loss 72-63. Leading the team among starters in the losing effort was Kamrin Oriol with 16 points, three assists and four rebounds. Trey Cady added 16 points and three boards off the bench, while BJ Plummer chipped in with 10 bench points, three rebounds and two blocks in the losing effort for the Ospreys.

Gonzaga Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the Gonzaga side, they opened up with a nice win streak then took their first loss at the end of November. The Bulldogs beat Texas Southern, Oklahoma, Creighton and Arizona State in their first four outings. The next three were wins over Southern Utah, Alabama and Maryland, then came Gonzaga’s first loss on November 26 versus Michigan by a whopping 40 points. The Bulldogs would finish out the first month of the year with a 7-1 record across eight games total.

In their Friday matchup with Kentucky, the Bulldogs were up 43-20 by the break. Gonzaga rolled the rest of the way on a 51-39 run and took the blowout win 94-59. Leading the team in scoring with a double-double was Graham Ike with 28 points, 10 boards and three assists in 30 minutes of work. Braden Huff added 20 points with three assists, and Emmanuel Innocenti had five points, six rebounds and six assists in the win for the Bulldogs.

Gonzaga vs North Florida Prediction

I’ll likely lean toward Gonzaga here. The line’s too thick to mess with, though. The Bulldogs made short work of a pretty good Kentucky team in their last outing, shooting a cool 57.1 percent from the field and 9-of-18 from 3-point range. Gonzaga had a 40-27 edge in rebounding and outscored the Wildcats in the paint 46-18 alongside 24 team assists and just nine turnovers. The Bulldogs held Kentucky to just 26.7 percent shooting on the other side as well. It was a nice bounce-back effort following just 61 points in that loss to Michigan. Gonzaga has now scores 90 or more points in all but three games so far this year; their offense is cooking.

As for North Florida, they shot a tepid 40 percent from the field in their latest loss versus a pretty decent SIU Edwardsville team. The Ospreys were out-rebounded 41-30 and had 12 turnovers alongside a 30-22 deficit on points in the paint. North Florida had been scoring well before that though, with 78 or more points in five straight games. The Ospreys tend to give up a lot on defense this year though, which will spell trouble in Sunday’s game.
