Grambling State vs Prairie View A&M Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/13/23

The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Grambling State Tigers meet Monday in college basketball action from Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. Prairie View is 9-16 on the year so far. The Panthers lost to Southern U in their last game. As for Grambling State, they’re sitting at 16-8 after a win over Texas Southern on Saturday. Prairie View A&M Panthers

Prairie View got off to a rocky start this year, going 7-11 over their first 18 games. Since then the Panthers are just 2-5 with losses to Alcorn State, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Bethune-Cookman and Southern U in that time. 

In the Southern U matchup on Saturday, the Panthers took a 38-31 advantage into the second half. Prairie View was outscored 48-27 from there and lost 79-65. William Douglas managed a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists in the defeat. 

Grambling State Tigers

Over on the Grambling State side, they hit a 10-7 run over their first 17 games of the season. The Tigers are on a 6-1 run since then, beating MS Valley State, AR-Pine Bluff, Jackson State, Alabama State, Alabama A&M and Texas Southern. 

In the Texas Southern game on Saturday, the Tigers were up 29-25 by the break. Grambling State kept it up with a 36-21 second-half run and won it 65-46. Version Cotton was the leading scorer with 20 points and five rebounds.

I’ll probably just stick with Grambling State here. The Tigers are looking good over this 6-1 run, and they’ve scored 65 or more points in three straight games. Grambling State certainly has motivation to perform here. The last time these teams saw each other back on January 2, the Panthers eked out a 61-60 win at William Nicks Building. Prairie View A&M has been pretty sketchy since then, so if Grambling State plays to their capabilities they should be fine in this one.
