Campbell started out the year on a sketchy 7-6 pace through 13 games, but the team has gotten better in the win column since then. The Camels are 2-1 in their last three games, falling to Radford between wins over High Point and NC A&T.
Matched up against North Carolina A&T on Saturday, the Camels were down by one point at halftime. Campbell came back on a 35-33 run to bag the 64-63 victory. Cedric Henderson led the team with his 25 points and eight rebounds.
Over on the Hampton side, they were able to win consecutive games a couple of times early in the year but it’s been rough since then. The Pirates are on a 1-3 run in their last four outings, taking losses to UNC Asheville, Radford and Longwood in that time.
Matched up against Longwood on Saturday, the Pirates posted a 35-34 advantage in the first half and a 37-42 deficit from there in a tough 76-72 loss. Mario Haskett topped the team with 21 points and two assists off the bench.
Hampton is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 at home and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 after an ATS win. The over is 5-2 in Hampton’s last seven after a straight-up loss.
Meanwhile, the Camels are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. Campbell is 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Campbell here. That said, I’m probably staying away. The Camels haven’t exactly been dominant over the last half-dozen games; they’ve been at 67 points or fewer in five of those outings. The good news for Campbell is that the last time these teams met up they were able to pull off a 75-60 win at home. The change in venue may take some wind out of the proverbial sails but I think Campbell still has the cover.
