The Towson Tigers will travel to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex to take on the Hofstra Pride this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Towson Tigers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 16-6 on the season after defeating the Drexel Dragons, 66-62, this past Saturday. Towson trailed by a 34-22 margin at halftime, however, the Tigers were outstanding offensively in the 2nd half and took the lead for good after a 16-0 Tigers run gave Towson a 57-47 lead with 4:37 left in regulation. Towson shot 52.0% from the field & 18.2% from beyond the arc while allowing Drexel to shoot 43.3% from the field & 41.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Tigers was Charles Thompson who had a double-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, & 1 block.

On the season, Towson is averaging 72.3 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 7.7 three-pointers per game on 35.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Towson has been led by Cameron Holden (14.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.9 spg), Nicolas Timberlake (13.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.6 apg), Jason Gibson (10.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.2 spg), & Terry Nolan Jr. (10.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.5 spg). Terry Nolan jr. missed the Tigers last game vs. Drexel due to an undisclosed injury and is questionable for this matchup.

Defensively, Towson is holding their opponents to an average of 65.1 ppg on 40.7% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 5.4 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The Hofstra Pride had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 13-8 on the season after being defeated by the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 78-72, this past Saturday. Hofstra led by a 40-34 margin at halftime, however, the Pride struggled defensively in the 2nd half and could not fight back after UNC Wilmington took a 74-68 lead with :41 seconds left in regulation. Hofstra shot 46.3% from the field & 16.7% from beyond the arc while allowing UNC Wilmington to 43.3% from the field & 37.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Pride was Aaron Estrada who had 17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Hofstra is averaging 77.6 ppg on 46.6% shooting from the field. The Pride are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 33.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Hofstra has been led by Aaron Estrada (17.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.4 spg), Zach Cooks (15.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.6 apg, 2.0 spg), Jalen Ray (13.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.5 apg), & Darlinstone Dubar (12.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to an average of 71.7 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Pride have a rebound margin of -1.6 and a turnover margin of 4.0.

The Tigers are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 games & 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games vs. Hofstra. The Pride are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. Towson, however, are 12-7 ATS overall on the season.

Towson has been led by their defense which ranks 73rd in scoring defense, 62nd in defensive FG%, & 46th in rebound margin, however, the Tigers have been nothing more than average on the offensive end as they come into this game ranked just 160th in scoring offense & 155th in FG%. Hofstra has been great on the offensive end this season, ranking 47th in scoring offense & 59th in FG%, however, the Pride have struggled on the defensive end and currently rank just 253rd in scoring defense & 225th in defensive FG%.

Towson is a very good team that has had plenty of success on the road this season, however, I’m expecting the Tigers to struggle against the high-powered Hofstra offense without Terry Nolan jr. available. Hofstra hasn’t had much ATS success in this matchup in recent years, however, as the Pride is 7-0 at home this season and as I think Towson will struggle to keep up with the Pride offensively in this one, I’m taking Hofstra to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
